What is Trichology?
Trichology is the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the hair and scalp. Trichologists adopt a holistic approach to treatment, analysing multiple factors, such as lifestyle & wellbeing, as well as genetics & hormones etc.
A Trichologist receives training of a clinical & medical nature encountering a varied spectrum of conditions, whilst some are curable others maybe managed & controlled.
What can a Trichologist offer?
A Trichologist can offer dry (electrotherapy) & wet treatments (steaming), specifically formulated pharmaceutical products such as take-home ointments, shampoos & conditioners. These services aim to create an optimum scalp environment for hair growth to thrive. Trichologists can offer extensive support by offering referrals to medical specialists, counsellors, hair restoration surgeons as well as wig/integration system specialists.
A Trichologist can help with the following examples.
- Hair loss – Alopecia – temporary & permanent
- Sudden/ long-term shedding
- Autoimmune or scarring hair loss conditions
- Skin conditions linked to the scalp eg Psoriasis

After years of experience in the hairdressing industry I graduated with a level 4 Diploma in Advanced hairdressing. Yet I craved further education to help clients with hair loss & scalp problems as I could see it was having a massive negative impact on their life.
My passion of Trichology drives me to educate myself further as well as those around me, providing a service that offers emotional support & practical treatments to patients. Finding the root cause of the problem in hand & working to eliminate this is something I thrive upon.
Supporting patients with a manageable lifestyle balance with realistic improvements & psychological support. Finding the right treatment plan for patients to reclaim their confidence & create an optimum environment for their hair. I offer formulated trichological products specific to the condition, avoiding surplus purchasing of the overwhelming promises of the marketing world. My trichology services extend to everyone including children, there really is no limits, we can all benefit from the world of Trichology.
