Cheshire Natural Health clinic’s director Tracey Turton knows from personal experience the the power of reflexology.
It was this first-hand experience that convinced her to train to become a reflexologist and eventually led to her opening the successful Cheshire Natural Health clinic and, as they say, the rest is history.
More of which in a moment…
Experience the power of reflexology
Simply put, reflexology is a natural therapy that is a truly relaxing process which may offer benefits to people with all kinds of common ailments. Tracey has used reflexology to support patients suffering from such things as stress, the menopause and fertility.
So, what is reflexology, exactly?
Reflexology is a non-invasive complementary therapy. It uses gentle pressure on precise points on the feet, ankles and hands. This influences corresponding parts of the body, soothing away tension.
It promotes deep relaxation, which in turn may normalise blood pressure and improve circulation. The aim of reflexology is to improve the overall physical and emotional health of the client.
During an hour’s treatment, circulation, energy flow, nerve and glandular systems are stimulated to help restore the body’s own natural balance.
It does this by helping to eliminate toxins and encouraging the body to revitalise itself.
Fertility Reflexology may also be very helpful in boosting your chances of conceiving.
Reflexology: a potted history
Using foot and hand massage to address health issues has been around for centuries. It is thought the ancient Egyptians used it for healing. Reflexology as a modern-day treatment was refined and developed in the 20th century, most notably by American Eunice Ingham. She was known as the ‘Mother of Reflexology’ and it is she who is credited with devising the modern system used by today’s practitioners.
What can I expect from a reflexology session?
At the first consultation a full medical history will be taken and your health issues and expectations will be discussed.
You will be required to remove your shoes and socks and relax on a treatment couch. For your comfort (and ours!) your feet are sprayed with a cleansing spray. Your feet will then be relaxed using special relaxation techniques and then pressure is applied in a specific way to all parts of the feet, paying particular attention to any areas that relate to your health concerns.
Certain points on the feet may feel slightly tender – this helps the therapist to identify areas of imbalance. The treatment is tailored to the individual – it can be relaxing or energising using light or firm pressure as required.
At the end of the treatment you will feel very relaxed, perhaps a little sleepy, and will leave with a great feeling of ‘well-being’.
Our therapists are also trained in specialist reflexology techniques:
AromaReflex (Zoe Oughton)
Aromareflex combines the power of essential oils and Reflexology together you will receive a full reflexology treatment and to enhance the benefit of the treatment you will have a blend of oils chosen for just for you. It an extremely relaxing and nurturing experience.
Aromareflex uses a carefully selected range of oils that are safe to use but also extremely beneficial. You will have your blend applied throughout your treatment. You will be given your blend pot to take home so that you can maximise the benefits of your session.
Hot Stone Reflexology (Zoe Oughton)
Hot stone reflexology takes relaxation to another level. Hot stones have been shown to lower cortisol levels and help to support the parasympathetic nervous system to help the body reverse the stress reaction.
Hot Stone massage originated in India and China and has been around for centuries. Ancient civilizations believed that hot stones cleansed the body and relaxed the heart, grounding the soul and soothing the mind. As the name implies, the treatment involves using smooth stones which are heated and are used to massage the lower leg and to carry out the reflexology.
Hot stone reflexology can be incorporated into a reflexology treatment or are used for the whole treatment with no thumb walking at all, using large stones to warm and massage the legs and feet, and small stones to work reflex points and more specific areas. It is a blissful treatment!
This video demonstrates this lovely treatment:
Reflexology Lymphatic Drainage (Gaynor Almond and Zoe Oughton)
A life changing treatment!
RLD is an award-winning reflexology technique which focuses on stimulating the lymphatic reflexes on the feet through a massaging technique. The aim is to cause an effect on the lymphatic system in the body. It is a unique sequence that has been researched and developed by Sally Kay BSc(Hons), whilst working in Cancer Care.

Fertility reflexology is designed to help couples who are going through fertility issues or experiencing difficulty conceiving a baby. Regular reflexology treatment can help couples who are actively trying to conceive. Reflexology is a holistic treatment that addresses the physical and mental causes of infertility, from irregular menstrual cycles and existing medical conditions to stress and emotional issues.
Maternity Reflexology (Gaynor Almond and Zoe Oughton)
Relaxation during pregnancy is important for mother and child. Maternity reflexology calms mum and baby, encourages communication between you, and relieves many of the common symptoms brought on by pregnancy.
The benefits of maternity reflexology are well researched. Studies show that women who have reflexology during pregnancy:
- Have significantly less pain during labour
- Experience shorter first stage labour
- Sleep better post pregnancy
Regular treatments can help to manage, prevent and relieve many symptoms experienced during pregnancy, including:
- Morning sickness
- Swollen feet and legs
- Pelvic and lower back pain
Reflexology reduces your stress levels and therefore the possibility of complications during pregnancy. It’s also a great way to prepare your body for birth naturally by helping to relax the pelvic area.
Post-natal reflexology supports breast feeding, regulates hormone levels, eases backache and encourages your body to return to its pre-pregnancy state.

Clinical Reflexologist MAR, FHT
I first experienced foot reflexology in 2012. When the lady treating me identified three areas of note within 15 minutes I was amazed and interested to learn more.
After my appointment, we chatted and I discovered she’d had a very similar experience during her first treatment. She was so intrigued by this she decided to re-train and become a Reflexologist. On the drive home, I thought about how beneficial and insightful my own treatment had been. There followed my own personal light bulb moment – I would investigate my newfound passion for reflexology and change career!
Prior to becoming a Reflexologist, I worked in the corporate travel industry, looking after customers and delivering the highest standards of customer service. Now, I love bringing amazing transformational experiences to my own clients through the wonders of foot reflexology. This incredible holistic treatment can help relieve a variety of health issues.
