Psychosexual Therapy (PST)is a therapy which specifically addresses sexual difficulties and intimacy issues, whatever they maybe, especially as they may be having a negative impact on you and your relationship.
Sexual difficulties are very common and research suggests that more than half of us will experience problems at some point. Your sexual wants and needs can change a lot throughout your lifetime. When these changes occur, they can leave you feeling like you want to shut down and not talk.
If you are facing these challenges being able to talk openly and frankly about your sex life can be feel daunting and uncomfortable but the key to maintaining a good relationship is to have an intimate relationship between you and your partner that you are both happy with. PST is open to everyone, whatever your sexuality or marital status may be.
Psychosexual Therapists are trained to have extensive knowledge of the biological functioning of your body, the psychology of intimacy. All of the work you or you and your partner do in the therapy room is based on talking. You will be given an individually designed programme of homework for you to do either on your own or with your partner in the privacy of your own home.
Psychosexual Therapists are open, non- judgemental and supportive and will work alongside of you and your partner as you develop this very intimate and private part of your life.
Gail has postgraduate qualifications in Relationship therapy, family counselling, psychosexual therapy and clinical supervision. Gail has extensive experience of working therapeutically with all aspects of relationships experienced by couples, families and individuals. This can also include separation, divorce and separated co-parents.
She trained with the University of Hull and Relate where she continues to counsel and supervise their practitioners and she also works in private practice. She is a Registered Member of the BACP and delivers training nationally for counsellors and therapists.
Gail works with integrative and relational models. Her work with clients is structured around their needs rather than fitting them into a predetermined model of counselling thereby supporting and enabling her clients to make the changes they want. Periods of challenge can be opportunities for change. Knowing how and what to do to effect that change can sometimes need the support of a counsellor who understands relationships and family dynamics. Couple and family counselling supports you in building better and more fulfilling relationships with your partner, separated co-parent or other family members.
Gail is also trained as a Psychosexual Therapist. Sex therapy (PST) is a therapy which specifically addresses sexual difficulties and intimacy issues
Gail is available for telephone and video consultations only until further notice.
