Colon hydrotherapy (also known as colonic irrigation) is a completely natural treatment that has been practiced for thousands of years. It is a safe and gentle cleanse of the bowel, using warm filtered water, which works with your body to remove waste from your colon while stimulating the muscles and nerves of the bowel to encourage natural, regular bowel function.
Why have a colonic?
With the hectic pace of modern life, it can be hard to eat healthy or to exercise as much as we would like – however our bodies really need us to.When you combine a sedentary lifestyle with a diet packed with refined and processed food, it inevitably upsets your digestive system, leading to a range of negative effects on your health.
Colon Hydrotherapy cleanses the bowel and helps to restore a natural balance, which many of our clients say gives them a feeling of well-being and energy. You may find a treatment with us is the inspiration you need to kick-start a healthier approach to your diet and lifestyle.
Almost anyone can benefit from colon hydrotherapy, regardless of age, gender or lifestyle.
We don’t make exaggerated claims to ‘cure’ digestive problems.
However, we have seen how our therapy can offer relief from a range of symptoms, including constipation, wind, diarrhoea and bloating.
Our clients find the treatment can be particularly useful where modern medicine has fallen short, particularly with a generic diagnosis of IBS. Of course, you don’t have to have a digestive problem
to benefit from colonics.
Some clients have regular treatments to keep their bowels clean and healthy, just like visiting
There are some conditions that make a colonic inadvisable, and your therapist will explain these during your consultation to ensure the treatment is safe and appropriate for you. Please note that we do not treat women at any stage of pregnancy.

Information on Colonic Hydrotherapy
For those patients seeking more detailed information
regarding colonic hydrotherapy, we have a sister
website which covers this therapy in more detail.
Our treatment rooms have been designed specifically for colon hydrotherapy, and have an en suite toilet for your comfort and convenience. We use the latest, state of the art equipment – the Toxygen BSC-UV Colon Hydrotherapy Unit – with a built-in, multi-stage water filtration system and state of the art ultraviolet steriliser. This ensures the water we use is clean and safe and provides temperature and flow control. To put your safety first at all times, we only use disposable speculums and tubing, designed for single use. You will be shown the fresh, factory-sealed kit before the start of your treatment for complete peace of mind.
What happens during a colonic?
Your first visit will take around two hours, during which your therapist will discuss your general health and well-being and ask you to complete a medical questionnaire. This is to ensure that the therapy is safe and appropriate for you. She will then explain the procedure and the equipment that will be used, to ensure that you feel comfortable and reassured. Once we’ve got to know you, repeat appointments will only need an hour and a half.
The procedure itself takes around 45 minutes, during which warm, filtered water is introduced into the colon at low pressure, via the rectum, and a gentle abdominal massage is applied. This cleanses the entire length of the colon, flushing out faecal matter, gas and mucus, which are carried away via a discreet, sealed system, with no mess or smell.
To help you maximize and maintain the benefits of your treatment we may offer diet and lifestyle advice that will help you reconnect with your body and find a natural balance. You may also be offered a course of high strength probiotics to aid your specific digestive problem.
Before and after
There is no special preparation needed for a colonic, although it will help if you make sure you are well hydrated by drinking plenty of water on the day of your treatment. If you are having problems with constipation, you should speak to your therapist in advance as she may recommend a gentle laxative, such as Movicol before your appointment to make the treatment more effective.
After your treatment you should be able to continue with your day as normal without any problems. However, you should avoid spicy food and alcohol for at least 24 hours.
Are colonics safe?
Absolutely. Since a colonic involves simply flushing out the colon using warm water, at low pressure, there is minimal risk. The water we use is filtered for safety and we only ever use single-use disposable equipment.
However, it is important to be open and honest about your medical history so that we can identify any conditions that may increase the risks from the treatment and advise you accordingly.
If you have any questions about the treatment, or would like to discuss your digestive issues in more detail, please feel free to call Angela directly on 07934 489516 and she will be happy to advise you.
