Leading Clinical Reflexologist Tracey Turton is encouraging people with minor ailments to have a go at reflexology to help their aches and pains.
Tracey, Clinic Director at Cheshire Natural Health, near Warrington, says: “Reflexology truly is a wonder therapy and I have helped so many people overcome both simple and long standing health problems.”
World Reflexology Week is held every September and Tracey is hopes it will help more people understand the healing powers of reflexology.
The success of reflexology, coupled with other complementary therapies at the Stretton clinic, prompted Tracey to found a fertility service and menopause clinic. Tracey has now lost count of the number of little ones conceived after their parents’ health was boosted by reflexology.
Tracey’s top five benefits of reflexology:
- Deep relaxation
- Improved sense of well-being
- More energy
- Relief from many health problems including hormone imbalance, headaches, poor immunity
- Helps recovery from injury
Reflexology not only leaves the client in a beautifully relaxed state, it can also help various ailments from back pain to sleeping disorders. It is an holistic healing treatment that works on the premise that the feet and hands provide a map of the body and by reading that map an experienced reflexologist can build up a picture of the client’s health.
The feet are divided into zones that run from the toes to the brain through different parts of the body. When pressure is applied to various parts of the feet or hands, the energy is encouraged to flow freely through the whole body.
Evidence of the use of reflexology has been found in an Egyptian tomb dating back to 2330 BC. However, it was an American ear, nose and throat specialist, Dr William Fitzgerald, who is credited as the forefather of modern reflexology. In the early 20th century he developed zone therapy and claimed he could create a natural anaesthesia by clamping his patients’ fingers.
